Giving the Gift of Love During Difficult Times
Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times; having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
~ 2 Corinthians 9:6-8.
Each of us is called to worship God with our entire life, including our time, talents and resources. Sharing those resources is an important way to worship the Giver of all good things.
"If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing."
~ 1 Corinthians 13:3
What Can I Do to Help Others in Need When I'm Tapped Out...
Times are tough for everyone. This economic slump has affected everyone - some much more than others. Job loss, physical and mental ailments, the weather, lack of sunlight zapping your energy level - pick your poison. God asks us all to serve others as we would serve Him.
There are hosts of ways we can help others, for free. Here are just a few that come to mind:
- Military families, shut-ins, the elderly, anyone who may need encouragement, give them a call or visit.
- Friends and neighbors who may need a meal, shoveling, a visitor, or other helping hand - offer it up.
- Spending time with family and friends, open up your home to others for some hospitality
- Kids also need the presence of men, take a kid skating, out to dinner, play a board game, do a puzzle, go ice fishing, etc.
- Lending an arm in an icy parking lot, holding the door open for others, helping someone bag groceries, etc.
We are all called to be an example of Christ. Often times, we do these things. Since you are blessed, you give a blessing to others by your example. It's not always about the money, it's about what we have in our hearts to give, what we are able to do to for others.
Congratulations - You are ‘Shining the Light!'

Urban HomeWorks Ministry on February 27 Needs Your Hammer...
Men and young men - Join us as we bring our tools and a heart to help the inner city to partner with Urban HomeWorks - a Christian ministry that helps renovate old homes for struggling families, and also puts Christians in these neighborhoods to help influence them for the Kingdom. Bob Andersen is coordinating an event for Saturday, February 27. Basic tools will probably be all that is needed (e.g. hammer, pencil, pry bar, square, tape measure, battery-powered drills, etc.). A group of 12 guys is ideal. The group plans to begin working on a project around 8 AM. We'll be back to church somewhere in the mid-afternoon. If interested, please contact Bob Andersen by e-mail at dendron55@gmail.com.
Get Your Financial House in Order on February 27 with Crown...
If you are looking for some guidance during these difficult economic times, we have a program that may help - ‘Journey to True Financial Freedom' is a seminar that can help you and your family reign in your finances in a Christian manner. Learn to make financial decisions according to God's principles, and identify the hazards that lead to financial problems. Participants will be encouraged as they learn how others have applied these principles. The event is Saturday, February 27, 2010, from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm at Trinity. Registration can be completed online at www.crown.org or by calling the church office at 952-435-5548. The $25 fee covers the course materials that you receive. A light lunch will be served.
Appeal for Male Security Presence at ‘Perspectives' Study in Minneapolis...
Trinity's Wendy Kooda is trying to cast a large net to see if she can find some men who would be willing to help out doing some "security" for a class that she is running in Minneapolis. Her class is ‘Perspectives on the World Christian Movement' and it runs Monday nights through May 3(www.perspectives.org). The class moved to a new location and she feels they need to step up their security. She only has four men attending and some will not be able to attend all sessions. She wasn't aware until recently of her lack of a male presence for this important job. Ideally, in addition to participating in the class, she would need four guys attending each week checking the building, the lot, walking around the building and walking people to their cars as they leave. Her request is strictly a volunteer opportunity, as they have no money to pay for security. Her group meets on Mondays at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1901 Portland Ave. S., Minneapolis, MN, www.stpaulsevlutheran.org. Class time is from 5pm -9:30pm, but her group would be flexible in starting or ending at a different time if that is what it takes to get more men around. If interested in helping her in her outreach, contact Wendy Kooda, or call the Trinity office to get in touch with her.

Men's Bible Studies
- Saturday Morning ~ Men's Bible Study: "10 Dynamic Men of The New Testament" 8:30 - 10:00 AM - Coordinator: Rick Flath - On Saturday mornings, you'll have a chance to connect weekly with other men while growing closer to Christ and experiencing the Proverb 27:17 "As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another". These mornings are dedicated to walking shoulder to shoulder with other men as we deal with living one day at time through the Word of God and the brotherhood of Christian fellowship! During the fall study we will examine 10 Dynamic Men of Faith from the New Testament ... and what we can learn from their lives - their success and their failures.
- Sunday Evening ~ Men's Bible Study: "The Book of Romans" 6:00 - 7:30 PM - Coordinator: Jon Seilkop - On Sunday night at 6:00 PM we will be going through the book of Romans.
- Thursday Evening ~ Men's Bible Study: "The Book of 2 Corinthians" 7:00 - 8:30 PM - Coordinator: Bob Andersen - On Thursday at 7:00 PM we will be going through the book of 2 Corinthians.
- Friday Morning ~ Men's Bible Study: "Inside/Out Small Group Fellowship" 6:30 - 7:30 AM - Coordinator: Brent Payne -Men's small group will meet Friday mornings from 6:30 until 8:00 am (or whatever time men need to leave). Our time opens in conversation and group prayer, we then focus on a book study that the group chooses by consensus. I would describe our group as 70% small group fellowship prayer and support), 30% Bible Study (book study). We have been selecting books that do not require advanced reading/homework. We've been reading the chapters together as a group with discussion following the reading. To start out the year, we will be doing small group discussion focusing on Pastor Don's Inside Out sermon series. After that series is concluded, we'll choose a book to read and discuss as a group.
