Moore & Kutcher’s Pain

Sad. Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher are divorcing. Married in September of  2005, they’re calling an end to it just six years later. According to Tim Molloy, TheWrap, Moore says, “It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I have decided to end my six-year marriage to Ashton. As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life. This is a trying time for me and my family, and so I would ask for the same compassion and privacy that you would give to anyone going through a similar situation.” I respect her wishes. It’s just sad.

There’s a lot of pain to go around. Relational pain can be among the most gut-wrenching. Some have said that experiencing divorce can be worse than a death. Some of you know this all too well. Others testify to the hellish pain of living with an addict. My biggest heartbreak is reserved for abused kids who feel worthless because of it. Jesus came to bind up the wounds of the injured and to throw his arms of love around those who feel unloved. Maybe that’s you today. If so, please reach out to someone who can help you find God’s love in the midst of our pain. You might be surprised at how little judgment and how much love you would find at church. Try it.
