A Hug from my Dad

"While he was still speaking, a bright cloud enveloped them, and a voice from the cloud said, ‘This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.
Listen to him!'"

Matthew 17:5

I love a hug from my dad. He has always been a good hugger. My kids now love hugs from their grandpa even while they laughingly complain that he squeezes too hard! I have grown up with the big squeeze and I love it more today than ever.
What's more, after he has hugged me, he leans back while still keeping touch with me, looks me in the eyes and says, "I'm proud of you son." He says it for me but whoever happens to be nearby hears it as well. He doesn't care, but he means it for me. The President of the United States could be in the same room but I feel like I am more important to my dad. Yes, he now says this to each of my kids too.
I think I know just a little of how Jesus felt that day on the mountain with dignitaries like Moses and Elijah. Peter, James and John were also nearby. That was good. They should hear. It was as if God gave His Son Jesus a gigantic, cosmic hug and then leaned back, looked Him in the eyes and said, "I'm proud of you Son." Wow! I hope He's got a hug for me.
