Birthing 101
"With the help of the Lord, I have brought forth a man." Genesis 4:1I took the class. One night a week, for longer than I wished, I accompanied my wife, with pillow and blanket in tow, to our local hospital where birthing classes were being offered.
"Why do I need to go, honey? You're the one having the baby." "Listen," she replied, in so many words, "if I'm going to go through all this to have our baby, the least you can do is to come and learn how you can help me." How can any responsible husband reject such argument? So I went to the classes and I learned. When the time came, I was ready and I helped. I held her hand.
Moms have been doing it since Eve with or without their husbands and with or without classes, but no mother brings forth a child without God's help. He is the Creator and Deliverer of life.
We' ve experienced six births now and I've learned that I can be of more help than I previously thought. Nevertheless, my wife could give birth without me, but never without the help of the Lord.
