Heavy Weight Helper

"So we say with confidence,
‘The Lord is my helper;
I will not be afraid.
What can man do to me?'"

Hebrews 13:6

He was big and he was my friend. Tim was our high school's heavy weight wrestler. He did not have to diet like most of the other wrestlers. I remember being awed by the number of hamburgers he could eat! He was built like a tank and seemed as strong as an ox. For a skinny kid like me, he was a great guy to pal around with. Usually a single glare from Tim was all it took to discourage any bully. Nobody messed with me when I was with Tim.

The devil does not mess with me when I am with the Lord. He knows better than to hassle the Holy Heavy Weight. If he messes with me, he will have to deal with the Lord, and he's not that stupid. My vulnerability grows when I wander from the Lord. Occasionally I think I can take care of myself or I simply forget about my best Friend. That's when Satan trips me up. The Lord is my "Heavy Weight". Like a gentle giant, He is careful about throwing His weight around. Still, if He needs to, He will bring the full weight of His divinity against the evil one. Hang around Him today. Stay close to Jesus, and the enemy will keep his distance.
