The Joy of a New Dress
"He who overcomes will, like them,
be dressed in white."
Revelation 3:5
I do not recall my mother ever getting a store-bought dress. When she truly needed one, not often, she would find fabric, on sale, and make one. Even if it was not as smart as ones in store windows, I know she felt pretty in her new dress. I'm sure my dad felt happy that he could provide so that his wife could sport her new look. I know that it makes me happy to see my wife enjoying a new dress.
God clothes the earth as well. No matter how much one may dislike winter, few fail to appreciate the beauty of a new and brilliant white dress upon "mother nature". The same could be said of the fresh greens of spring, the muted hues of summer and the multi-colored splash of autumn. It is God's work to "dress" the earth with beauty and it must give Him great joy.
It gives Him even greater joy to dress you. All good things come from Him but the very best garment He is reserving for you in heaven. God, who does not fail to clothe the lilies of the field, will one day clothe you with the pure white garment of His righteousness. He can hardly wait for you to try it on. Take joy!
