The Solid Rock

The Solid Rock"The Lord is the Rock Eternal" Isaiah 26:4

It marks one of the back corners of our lot. Jutting out from the soil, it appears to be a foot of pyramid-shaped rock. I say, appears, because for all I know, it's the top of a thousand-foot mountain of granite, just daring me to dig it up. I'm smarter than that. I just mow around it.

This rock is never threatened by the elm trees overhead,
Nor is it moved or shaken by the storms which others dread.
This rock has not been frightened by shovels scraping to get
beneath,
There really isn't anything that's ever caused it grief.

But then, this rock remembers time before the elms were even
seed,
It's weathered storms of turbulence since Adam took to Eve.
This rock, for generations, has beaten every spade,
Folks have come and gone from here, but this rock has always stayed.

"The Lord is the Rock eternal," Isaiah said. From before the beginning of time, until after time has ceased, from everlasting to everlasting, he is God, our Solid Rock.
