Weatherman

"He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves,
‘Quiet! Be still!'
Then the wind died down and it was completely calm."
Mark 4:39

"Joey", I told my youngest son, "I think you should be a weatherman." Joe wasn't sure how to respond to his dad's latest piece of advice. He wanted to be a professional fisherman. I continued, "No one gets to be wrong so much as a weatherman and still hang on to his job."

In defense of meteorologists, they do have a tough job. Given shifting jet streams and fluctuating ocean currents, predicting the weather must at times drive these folks near to insanity. (Of course it is a good thing that we cannot perfectly predict the weather. If we could, we would all want to take the same two weeks for our vacation!) Most of us, however, would like to not just predict the weather; we'd like to control it. We've all had it "rain on our parade" or hail on our Mustang. Just imagine the power, the influence, if we could control the weather! But if predicting the weather is tough, controlling it is impossible.

No, you cannot "follow Jesus' example" in this one. He is God. He made the wind and the sea. The jet-stream listens to His voice. Whether the storm without or the tempest within, Jesus can bring calm to your waters. Jesus - the real Weatherman.
