Whew! You can stop looking up for fear of getting hit by a bus. Well, it was a bus-sized satellite, dead in the upper atmosphere and crashing to the earth. Late September of this year, the Associate Press reported,
“NASA space junk scientists believe that all — or nearly all — of the parts of their 20-year-old dead satellite safely plunged into the Pacific Ocean, likely missing land. But if their estimates are off, by only five minutes or so, fiery pieces could have fallen on parts of northwestern North America.”
Imagine being hit by a piece of the 6-ton satellite! You might conclude that God’s justice caught up with you. You likely would not have seen it coming.
I think Jesus’ return, bringing God’s judgment, will be a lot like that. Nobody who is going to get hit is looking for it. Everyone continues as they have, living lives of self-interested absorption. Pre-occupied with “more likely possibilities” than being hit by a bus from space, they don’t consider that judgment could be headed their way.
I hope that’s not you. Keep an eye on the sky and live your life with the reality that Jesus is indeed coming again. “Yes, I am coming soon.” –Jesus, Revelation 21:20
